Robert Edward Tollison, 91, of Warrior, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at his home.
Visitation will be at Roselawn Funeral Home, 741 Danville Road SW, Decatur, on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, from noon to 2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service following at 2 p.m. Dr. Russ Quinn and retired minister Steve Belcher will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Edward was born on May 24, 1924, in Moulton to Selmon and Willie B. Tollison. In his early years, his love of music led him to play in his country bluegrass band, the Ramblers. He was employed for 35 years at Hayes International in Birmingham as a test pilot on C-130’s for military contracts. But his greatest calling in life was to the ministry, where he served as pastor at Park Avenue Baptist in Oneonta, Village Springs Baptist in Village Springs, and Hickory Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Moulton.
Edward is survived by his two daughters, Patricia Hannon and her husband, Dick, of Warrior, and Debra Talley and her husband, Neil, of Decatur; two grandchildren, Scott Hannon, of Birmingham, and Melanie Smith and her husband, Ben, of Town Creek, and five great-grandchildren, Nick Collier, Eddie and Destiny Smith, and T.J. and Zachary Hannon; brother, Milton “Buddy” Tollison, of Moulton; sister, Barbara Jones, of Neel; brothers-in-law, Marvin Geeslin, of Moulton, and Danny Porter, of Mount Hope; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Daisy Gilbert Tollison and his second wife, Elsie Mae Porter Tollison; and two sisters, Fayrene Mater and Verna Geeslin.
