Edward Nelson Denton, 68, of Decatur died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at Burningtree Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Jeff Parker of Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret Minton and husband, Jerry, of Decatur; one nephew, Lyle Minton and wife, Robin, of Huntsville; three great-nephews, Gaines Minton, Oliver Minton and Wesley Minton; and one great- niece, Elinor Minton. Mr. Denton was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Athens College and was a teacher for several years, working in special education. He also worked as a security guard. In his latter years, Mr. Denton worked as a senior companion for the Community Action Group of Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
