shirlieShirlie Nell Hopson, 60 of Nauvoo, entered into rest on October 20, 2015 at Lakeland Community Hospital. 

Mrs. Hopson was born on July 21, 1955 in Haleyville. Shirlie was a member of New Hope at Mt. Ebron Baptist Church for 4 years. She was a 1973 graduate Winston County High School. Shirlie loved reading, playing the piano, painting, and playing with her grandbabies.

Shirlie is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, James Rickey Hopson; sons, Christopher James Hopson, Justin Shane Hopson; daughter, Brittany Rena (Thomas Jay) Bates; brothers, Gerald (Nelda) Edwards, Raymond Edwards; sisters, Joyce (Lee) Tucker, and Edna (Junior) Ayers. She was “MawMaw Shirlie” to 2 grandchildren, Kayden Tanner Bates and Lannah Paxton Bates. Also survived by her nephews, Lonnie (Patricia) Tucker, Brad (Brittany) Edwards, Adam (Crystal) Tucker, Jerry Edwards, and Mike Mitchell; nieces, Angela (Josh) Nicholson, Mirenda (Gary) Goggans, Misty (Bradley) Franklin, Candy Armstrong, Kelly Edwards, Kim (Keith) Landers, and a host of great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Raymond Edwards and Ima Gene Edwards and a sister in law, Linda Edwards.
