Raymond Allen Grissom – Obituary

Raymond Allen Grissom, age 81, passed away Oct. 11, 2015, at Russellville Hospital.
Visitation will be today at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. with service to follow at 2 p.m. in our chapel. Burial will be in Franklin Memory Gardens, Russellville.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Sneed Grissom; daughter, Ramona (Jeff) Robinson; son, Mark (Leah) Grissom; granddaughter, Carrie (Marcus) Dover, Kathryn Robinson and Caroline Grissom; great-grandsons, Grayson Thorpe, Brennon Thorpe, Walker Dover and Sawyer Dover; great-granddaughter, Dixie Dover; and brother, Homer Grissom.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ada Grissom, and siblings, Hobart, Robert Jr., Ollie, Walter, Emma, Linnie, Thelma, Dewey, Albert, Earl, Ford and Curtis.
Raymond was a member of North Highlands Church of Christ, Russellville High School graduate, and Auburn University graduate and a member of the James E Foy Loyalty Society. He was a successful business owner of the Frosty Inn and Grissom Cleaners.
Raymond was very active in local, civic and state organizations. He was a former member of the Jaycees and Rotary Club and served as past president of the Russellville City School Board and Alabama Association of School Boards. He served as a member of Russellville City Zoning Board, Russellville Little League Association and Russellville High School Athletic Association, and the UNA Sportsman Club. He also served on the board of directors of Valley State Bank.
Pallbearers will be Curt Grissom, Robin Grissom, David Grissom, nephews of Raymond, William (Bill) Foster, lifelong friend, Jackie Sneed, Bob Sneed, Billy Sneed, brothers-in-law, and Greg Trapp, family friend.
We are so very thankful to have had an encouraging, loving, caring husband, dad and grandfather.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to donate to the Russellville City Schools Education Foundation.
Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, will be directing.
