ATHENS-Joe Carlucci or as some may call him, “Mr. New York”, is the owner of Joe’s World Famous Pizzeria located in Athens, Alabama. Joe is an accomplished pizzaiolo who has won numerous national and international culinary competitions and he is the current Guinness World Record holder for the highest pizza toss at 21.5 feet. One of the most prominent measures of a pizzaiolos’ ability can be determined in their placement at the annual Italian Pizza World Summit held in Dubai on October 27th thru the 29th. As time grew closer to the competition date, the event organizers decided they needed at least 1 U.S. Pizzaiolo expert and “Mr. New York” got the call. He is the only American to be selected to compete in The Best Italian Pizza competition rewarding the chef who best represents the expression of Italian cuisine. In light of the competition, October is National Pizza Month so the timing is perfect. Joe will be celebrating this month with numerous pizza specials and deals.
