Ripple Formby McMullen
(May 14, 1929 – September 24, 2015)
Mrs. Ripple Formby McMullen, age 86, died at her home in Gurley, Alabama on Thursday, September 24, 2015.

Born May 14th, 1929, in Chewalla, Tennessee, Ripple lived in Tennessee and Mississippi, before settling in Gurley, Alabama. She was a cosmetologist and the owner and operator of Ripple’s Salon of Beauty. Prior to that, she was a nurse and also a ticket agent for Southern Railway Company. Ripple was active in the PTA and as a volunteer in the Gurley School System. She served on the town of Gurley’s Board of Adjustment and was very active in the community.

Ripple was full of life and dearly loved her friends and family. She made everyone feel welcome and was the life of the party.

Survivors include her two daughters, Donna (David) Spears of Meridianville, Alabama and Debra (Randy) Gamble of Ft. Payne, Alabama; her grandchildren Joe Allison, Charles (Jennifer) Gamble, Allison Gamble and Angela Allison and her two great-grandsons, Josh and Aiden Gamble. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dixie Lee McMullen, as well as her father, Samuel Formby and mother, Carrie Sitton.

The services will be handled by Berryhill Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Gurley United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 1-3 pm with the service to follow at 3. The internment will be held at the Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Gurley United Methodist Church 121 College St. Gurley, AL 35748.

The family would like to thank her caregivers over the last three years for their tireless service and countless hours they put into caring for Ripple: Linda Stanley, Tricia Gipson, Minnie Norman, Brenda Buchanan, Jessi Lee, Tonya Nolan, Becky Deerman and Sherry Atkinson.
