Rickey Dewayne Jones, 55, of Decatur, died on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at his home.
Born Sunday, February 21, 1960, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Bobby Carroll Jones and
Margaret Wales Benefield. He lived most of his life in the Decatur area and loved Alabama basketball and football,
and country music. He was a member of the Special Olympics Swim Team. He was preceded in death by his
father, Bobby Carroll Jones; grandparents, Henry and Dorothy Wales, Willie Jones Sr. and Delaney; and nephew, Zachary Jeffreys and wife Amie.
Surviving are his parents, Margaret & Loy Benefield, of Decatur; special friend, Amanda Parker, of Decatur;
brother, Mickey (Ty) Jones, of Decatur; sister, Vickie (Emilio) Sanchez, of Decatur; stepbrothers, Sam (Theresa) Benefield, and Jon (Sheree) Benefield, both of Holly Pond; stepsisters, Robin (Ty) Wilson, of Holly Pond, Luette Benefield, of Albertville, and Danielle (Marshall) Hagler, of Slocomb, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Rev. Emilio Sanchez officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today, September 26, 2015, at the funeral home.
