John David Bates 86, of Huntsville passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at a local hospital. Mr. Bates was a Ret. CW3 with The United States Army with over 28 years of service. Mr. Bates was a member of Southwood Presbyterian Church, also a member of The Gideon’s, as well as an entrepreneur. Mr. Bates is survived by his wife of over 64 years Betty M. Bates, son David and his wife Patricia Blankenship Bates, granddaughters Nikolus Bates and Megan Bates Rich and her husband Scott, great grandchildren Kristabelle Rose Bates, Clara Isabelle Rich and Mike Rich, as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 5 until 7 pm at Hampton Cove Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11 am at Southwood Presbyterian Church.
