“This afternoon around 12:30 the police department received a call of shots fired in the area of Hardy Street. Officer Brandon McCusiston responded and was told by city workers in the area that they had and heard a couple shots fired in the area, a short time later they saw a gray car leaving the area. We then received a call from the Athens Limestone Emergency Room notifying us that a male had come in with a gunshot wound. Malone was treated and released from the Emergency Room. The victim told us he was entering a friend’s residence when he heard a couple of shots. He said he didn’t know he had been shot till he felt blood running down his leg. At the present time the investigation into this case is continuing. We ask if anyone has any information they call 256-233-8700 and speak with investigator Bret Constable.”
