FLORENCE– The Tennessee Valley Authority is seeking public input on its draft Environmental Assessment of a proposed power purchase agreement with a solar installation in Lauderdale County, Ala.
TVA has tentatively approved an agreement to purchase the electricity generated by NextEra Energy Resources’ proposed 80-megawatt River Bend Solar Project for up to 20 years, pending the outcome of the assessment.
The solar project, currently scheduled for completion in late 2016, would occupy about 645 acres located five miles west-northwest of Florence. The facility would tie into an existing adjacent TVA transmission line.
The draft Environmental Assessment may be viewed at https://www.tva.com/environment/reports/riverbendsolar/ and public comments will be accepted through September 14. The public may provide input through an online form on the project webpage, by e-mail at cpnicholson@tva.gov, or by mail to Chuck Nicholson, TVA, 400 West Summit Hill Drive, Knoxville, Tenn., 37902-1499.
