junkeoJohn Adam Jurenko, Jr., age 80, of Huntsville, died Thursday, April 30, 2015, at his home.

John is survived by his wife, Ruth R. Jurenko; daughters, Carole J. Jones (George) and Janet J. Brown (David); and three grandchildren, Laura J. Plummer (Tommy), Adam Brown and Garrett Brown. He is also survived by two brothers, Donald Jurenko (Lonnie) and Robert Jurenko (Suzanne) and three nephews and two nieces. John was preceded in death by his parents, Olga and John Jurenko; and his brother, David Jurenko.

Since his graduation from the University of Pittsburgh, John established numerous endowment funds to assist and support engineering students. He was inducted into the Cathedral of Learning Society and served on the School of Engineering Board of Visitors. He was a strong community supporter having served on the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Association Board of Trustees and the Huntsville Madison County Botanical Garden Foundation Board of Directors. He was a member of Kiwanis of Metropolitan Huntsville and Grace Lutheran Church and supporter of Parkinson’s Research through Hudson Alpha Institute for Biotechnology and UAB Department of Neurology.

John is the retired vice president of sales and marketing at ADTRAN, a company he co-founded in 1985.

Visitation will be Monday at noon at Grace Lutheran Church with services to follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Blair Clark officiating.

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to the Hudson Alpha Foundation and Grace Lutheran Church and School Bus Fund.
