oakleyA celebration of life for Oakley Nathaniel “Nat” Parker will be Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roger Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Nat passed away on April 29, 2015, at River City Center. He was born in Lawrence County on August 7, 1938, to Travis Wilson Parker and Ida Wiley Parker. He was a graduate of Lawrence County High School and Faulkner University. Nat was a member of First Baptist Church Decatur. Nat was also a member of the American Legion and an avid Alabama fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Cliff, Bill, C.B. and Travis; two sisters, Louise Smith and Katherine Sparks.
Nat is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Patsy Patton Parker; one sister, Jean Futrell(Samuel) of Florence; three brothers, Dan (Danny Lee) of Muscle Shoals, Stan (Betty) of Decatur and Carl (Kay) of Florence; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Chad Parker, Dwight Parker, Rob Parker, Wayne Parker, Ronnie Patton, Jr. and Larry Monk.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Bowes Channel Sunday School class.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Free Clinic of Decatur, 245 Jackson St. SE, Decatur, AL 35601 and the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, 1404 16th Ave. SE, Decatur, AL 35601.
