Funeral service for Grace Garnett Clemons, 98, formerly of Hartselle, will be Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewitt Crowe and Rev. Terry Nappier officiating. Burial will be in Shoal Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Clemons died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Manor Care Assisted Living in Winter Park, Florida. She was born February 10, 1917, the only daughter, to the late Jabez Madison Garnett and Jennie Lind McDaniel Garnett. Mrs.
Clemons was a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great- great-grandmother, who always put God and family first. She was a charter member of Southwest Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 27 years. She was famous for her handmade quilts, chicken and dumplings, home canned green beans and fried pies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clemons; her daughter, Gayle Burch; her son, Larry Clemons; four sons-in-law, John Burch, J.D. Kent, Glen Tapscott and Ted Greggs; one grandchild, one great-grandchild and four brothers.
Survivors include three daughters, Jean Kent of Hartselle, Joni James and husband, Edward, and Linda Tapscott-Greggs, both of Orlando, FL; daughter-in-law, Linda Clemons of Hartselle; 16 grandchildren, 34 great- grandchildren and six great-great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
