He leaves here to cherish fond memories his wife, sweetheart, and best friend of 33 years, Jena Butler; his parents, Tommy and Enid Butler; daughter, Ashley Peek (Dustin); son, Byron Butler; son, Caleb Butler (Summer); grandsons, Titus, Samuel, and Nathan Peek; and father-in-law, Doyce Richardson (Judy). Tim is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law which he considered as his own siblings, Karla Springer, Karen Romine, Tonya Shelton, Cecelia Gautney, Derrick Richardson, and their families, all of Rogersville, Alabama.
Tim lived his life in joyful anticipation of beginning his real life in heaven one day. He faithfully served God from his youth. His heart was as big as the ocean, and he demonstrated that through many unselfish acts of generosity and kindness to others. He loved to travel, hiking with his wife and family, was a talented woodworking craftsman, lived to read, enjoyed old-time radio programs, gospel singings, and was a an avid Auburn football fan. Tim loved hosting a monthly teen Bible study and spending time with young people. He worshiped at New Georgia Church of Christ where he led singing, taught Bible class, and dearly loved and was loved by all the members there. His greatest joy on this earth was his family. He was a proud and devoted daddy to his children, and adoring Pappy to his grandchildren.
Tim was a veteran of the United States Navy where he was a machinist mate aboard a nuclear powered fast attack submarine. After he completed his enlistment in the Navy, he worked at United Space Boosters, Inc. while attending college at night and graduated with a degree in mathematics from Athens State University. He was employed at TVA’s Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant for 23 years. He began as an assistant unit operator, spent many years as a unit operator, and in more recent years Tim had worked as an S1 coordinator. He loved his job and his friends from Browns Ferry.
Pallbearers will be Byron Butler, Caleb Butler, Dustin Peek, David Pinion, Bruce Springer, Bryan Romine, Kenneth Shelton, and Michael Gautney
