Joel Franklin Hobbs, 61, of Harvest, died Wednesday at Madison Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Salem Springs Baptist Church with Kevin Ward officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation is from noon until service at Salem Spring Baptist Church. Spry Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Hobbs was born January 17, 1954, in Limestone County. He was a member of Salem Springs Baptist Church, retired from Verizon Federal in Huntsville after 28 years, avid golfer and outdoorsman and a loving husband, father and grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Benton and Lola Pearl Phillips Hobbs; and brothers, Dale, Dwight and Charles Hobbs. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Hobbs; sons, Joey Daniel Hobbs and wife, LeAndrea, of Athens, Jacob Benton Hobbs of Harvest; grandchildren, Logan Hobbs, Landon Hobbs, Lilly Ruth Hobbs; sister, Aweda White of Athens; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Ken Cotton (Mary), Jeff Cotton (Melinda); and sister-in-law, Deborah Cotton (Rhonda).
Pallbearers will be Ken Cotton, Jeff Cotton, Stanley Dean, Ricky Barran, Tony Hobbs, Terry Hendrix, Jason Dean and Edward Cotton.
