Funeral for Roger Dale “Buddy” Childers, age 62, will be Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Marcus Lipscomb and Carol Hall officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Childers, who died Saturday, March 14, 2015, was born January 11, 1953, in Lawrence County to C.G. Childers and Katherine May Childers. He was a subcontractor and home builder. His church affiliation was Highway 36 Holy Church of Christ and his hobbies were hunting, Nascar, and Alabama football. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Childers; sons, Heath Matthew Childers and Shawn Kelly; daughters, Sherri V. Childers Hill and Lori Drake; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Sharlene Grantland, Lynn Solway, Nora Curtis, and Marsha Smith.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Childers, Tyler Byars, Wheeler Hill, Caleb Kelley, Justise Jones, and Jordan Jones.
Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Drake and Daryll Breedlove.
