Thomas Underwood Chandler, 89 of Bessemer, Alabama, formerly of Ardmore, AL, died on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at The Oaks on Parkwood in Bessemer, Alabama.
Born Wednesday, November 25, 1925 in Ardmore, Alabama, he was the son of the late Robert Chandler and the late Belma McKee Chandler, He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and enjoyed hunting, skeet shooting, and farming. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Gladise Merle Chandler, brothers: Robert, Joe, and V.B., and sisters: Pauline Whitt, Agnes Ferguson, and Coy Campbell. The family would like to especially thank the staff at The Oaks on Parkwood and long-time care giver Lani Buczec, and to niece Waynell Rossnagel for all her support.
Surviving are son, Thomas (Lydia) Chandler, Jr. of Ardmore, AL, daughters, Teresa Chandler of Birmingham, AL and Janet (Scott) Harris of Birmingham, AL, sister, Peggy (Carlos) Ruf of Sale Creek, TN, grandchildren: Chandler Harris, Alexander Harris, Patrick Harris, all of Birmingham, AL, and Haley (Keith) Luper of Mandeville, LA, and great-grandchildren: Justin and Nathan Luper.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Dr. Ray Stonecypher officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
