Gordon Grayson “Pete” Atchley, Sr., age 83, of Huntsville, passed from this life on January 30, 2015.
Pete served 18 months in Korea as a Corporal in the US Army. He was an entrepreneur who owned Pete’s Heating and Air, and Pete’s Gulf and Grocery. Pete retired from National Copper and Smelting on his 62nd birthday. He was a member of the Meridianville Church of Christ.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Idella Gwathney; and his daughters, Martha Jane Atchley and Karon Pyle.
Pete is survived by his wife, Ruth Atchley; his son, Gordon “Pete” Atchley, Jr. and wife Becky; His daughter, Sandy Atchley; his sister, Mollie Hawkins and husband Jimmy; his granddaughters, Christie Franklin and husband Kyle, and Robin Shelton and husband John; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday February 2, 2015 at 2 pm at Shiloh UMC Cemetery with Randy Pyle officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11am until 1pm at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville.
