Essie Vera Morphis Smith – Obituary

Essie Vera Morphis Smith, 75, died Monday, January 26, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was born May 20, 1939. She was a homemaker. She loved the Lord and enjoyed reading her Bible, and she loved to donate to people and help others in any way she could.

Services will be at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, January 29, at the McNeece – Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. John Griffus and Bro. Shane Ray officiating. Burial will be in the Shady Valley Cemetery near Tremont.

Survivors include her mother, Essie Barnett Swann of Fulton; three sons, Jimmy Morphis (Marilyn) of New Albany, Jeffery Morphis of Nettleton, and George Smith, Jr., (Lori) of Booneville; two daughters, Sherry Morphis of Nettleton and Sandy Morphis of Saltillo; two brothers, William Swann of Dalton, GA, and Elmer Swann (Lee) of Fulton; four sisters, Francis Green and Mary Lefevre, both of Fulton, Ann Davidson of Guntown, and Pheby Emmons (Mike) of Fulton; a special niece, Cyndi Fesler.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Swann; and infant son, Jerry Lynn Morphis; three brothers, Milburn, Wilburn, and Charles Swann.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Windham, Dakoda Davidson, Billy Davidson, Mike Emmons, Sr., Mike Emmons, Jr., and Wayne Swann.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Wednesday, January 28, at McNeece – Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
