Samuel Joel Baker, 67, of New Market passed away Sunday in Alabaster at Shelby Baptist Hospital. Sammy was a 1965 graduate of Buckhorn High School and spent most of his career in sales. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam and Germany. Survivors include his son: Samuel Buck Baker of Jacksonville, FL; one step-son: Michael Baker of Leesbury, FL; two sisters: Sallie Berryhill and Judy (Sidney) White; his niece: Angie (Ronnie) Renfroe; one nephew: Ray (Lisa) White and several great nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Friday at Baker Family Cemetery, 3380 Hurricane Road, New Market, AL with Berryhill Funeral Home directing.
