Addie Woodroof Wilson age 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in Athens, AL.
She is preceded in death by her father, George S. Elliott; mother, Helen H. Elliott; husbands, James W. Woodroof and James H. Wilson; sister, Ann Elliott Findlay.
Addie is survived by her daughter, Shannon W. Booco and husband Mark of Athens, AL; son, Jimmy Woodroof and wife Amy of Athens, AL; grandchildren, Alan Booco and wife Sara of Athens, AL, Meredith W. Ellison and husband Brandon of Asheville, NC, Jay Woodroof and wife Emily of Tuscaloosa, AL and Will Woodroof and wife Tara of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren, Woodrood Booco of Athens, AL, Addie Ruth Ellison, Levi Ellison and Woods Ellison all of Asheville, NC.
Addie was born August 23, 1928 in Gainesville, GA to Helen and George Elliott. She graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC in 1950 with a degree in Voice and Music.
She married James W. Woodroof in November of 1950. She married James H. Wilson in 1989. She taught in Athens City School System as a music and elementary school teacher for approximately 20 years.
She was a devoted and loving mother to two children, Shannon W. Booco and Jimmy Woodroof. She loved people, life, her community and family.
She was an active and devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Athens, AL for over 60 years. She loved singing and sang in the church choir for over 40 years. She often sang at weddings and funerals. She was a member of First United Methodist Women, serving as a past president. She was also a member of the Athens Garden Club, Athens Study Club and Grace Club of Huntsville, Alabama.
The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. The service with be at the First United Methodist Church in Athens, AL. Visitation will be at the Beasley Center from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Kenny Baskins officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Addie’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 978, Athens, AL 35612 or to a charity of your choosing. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family.
The family would like to thank her devoted care givers, Shirley Davis, Emma White, Catrina Langford, Christy Fuller, Will Alice Hicks, Maureen Battles and Dalesia McWilliams. They would also like to thank the nurses and staff at The Limestone Health Facility for their loving care.
