Monroe Wilson Roberts, Sr. age 94 of Athens, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Roberts was born July 29, 1920 in Limestone County, AL to Jason G. Roberts and Pheobe Perry Roberts.

Services will be Saturday, December 27, 2014 11:00 a.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Dusty McLemore, Rev. Gary Enfinger and Rev. Keith Turberville officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Roberts was a member of Tanner Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and Police Officer and was a veteran of World War II in the United States Army.

Preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Johnson Roberts; parents, Jason and Pheobe Roberts; several brothers and sisters.

Survived by one son, Butch Roberts and wife, Connie of Trinity, AL; three daughters, Carol Lovell of Athens, Joan Moore and husband, Sparky of Decatur and Sandy Dunnavant and husband, Doc of Athens; 8 grandchildren, Tammie Gafford, Scott Roberts, Traci McGill, Ken Lumpkin, I V Marsh, Jason Roberts, Adam Marsh and Daly Dunnavant; 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be I V Marsh, Jason Roberts, Adam Marsh, Ken Lumpkin, Scott Roberts and Curtis Roberts.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
