E. Ray Bouldin – Obituary

boldin born Dec 23, 1949 passed away peacefully at home in Taft, TN on Dec 6, 2014. Ray was born in Hamilton, Bermuda while his father served in the Air Force. Throughout Ray’s life he worked in support of our nation in various capacities. After graduating from Arkansas State University with a Physics degree in 1971, Ray joined the U.S. Air Force and served at Eglin Air Force Base, FL developing software to optimize air-to-air missile systems which were used in Vietnam. After his separation from the Air Force he went to work for the U.S. Army developing software to support the joint Conventional Ammunition Program. Next he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller. After several moves with the FAA, Ray moved to Huntsville and got back to supporting the defense industry as a contractor supporting missile defense programs in Huntsville and Washington D.C. Ray earned his Master of Science in Computer Science from UAH in 1987.

Ray is survived by his wife of 37 years, Wynna; son, Chris Fitzgerald of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Daniela (Brian) Peele of Fort Walton Beach, FL; and his four grandchildren, MacKenzie and Elliot Fitzgerald and Jessica and Nicholas Peele. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Bradshaw Bouldin, his mother, Charlene Bouldin, and his brother, Rex Bouldin.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Gardens with Tony Boyles officiating.
