Mrs. Mary Iona Anderson Trussell, 82, of Florence, made her final trip on December 4, 2014 to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mary grew up in Chickasaw, AL where she met her best friend, Frank Trussell. Frank and Mary soon became sweethearts and married in 1951, the beginning of a 63 year journey. Frank and Mary traveled the world together as Frank served in the U.S. Navy. After retirement, they made their home in Lauderdale County with their three children. Frank and Mary continued to travel the United States while camping with friends and fellow military retirees. Mary was a member of North Wood United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 1- 2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Scott Coats officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Trussell was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Marion Anderson; son, Michael David Trussell.
She is survived by her husband Frank Lee Trussell of Florence; sons, Pat Trussell (Susie) of Huntsville, Tim Trussell (Betty) of Muscle Shoals; Daughter, Leah Howard (Robbie) of Florence; brothers, Melvin Stein (Myrna) of Overland Park, Kansas, Robert Stein (Carolyn) of Arnaudville, LA; grandchildren, Timothy Devin Trussell and Samantha Trussell both of Muscle Shoals, Levi Howard of Florence; and her beloved pet, Bella, a Pug/Russell.
Pallbearers will include Gerald Hanks, Wayne Hunt, Timothy Devin Trussell, Alton Waldrep, Carl Pigorsch, and Lawrence Conwill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Wood United Methodist Church Children’s Ministry.
