shirleyMrs. Shirley Ann Logston, of Huntsville, Alabama died Friday, November 14, at about 12:20 a.m. Death was the result of a stroke suffered earlier. Mrs. Logston was the wife of Roy G. Logston.

Shirley was born in Thomasville, Pennsylvania on April 28, 1936. Her deceased parents were Maurice and Pauline Staub, and she graduated from East Berlin High School in Pennsylvania.

Shirley and Roy Logston were married in December, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They had three sons, Mark, Eric, and Lee. Eric lost his life while serving in the US Army. Mark and Lee are currently working in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mr. and Mrs. Logston moved several times, following Roy’s aerospace career and other family reasons. Primary living locations were El Paso, Texas, Huntington Beach, California, Huntsville, Alabama (three times) and York, Pennsylvania.

After raising three sons, Shirley developed and operated a small “hobby” business in arts, crafts, and antiques. Her favorite activities involved Christmas crafts and decorating. For several years, she and a few friends held a Christmas sale in her home. This led to extensive Christmas decorations throughout the house, a practice that continued even after she stopped having the Christmas sales. Her last significant Christmas decoration was at her home in the Hampton Cove area of Huntsville. In addition, she managed the Hampton Cove Christmas Tour of Homes in 2004.

She and Roy moved to Redstone Village in January, 2013, where her Christmas decorating was reduced only because their apartment was smaller than their house had been.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Logston; and sons, Mark Logston and Lee Logston.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. Shirley’s final interment will be in Pennsylvania near the farm where she grew up in York County.
