DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit made a routine traffic stop and found drugs in the possession of the driver of the vehicle. Here is how the Decatur Police describe events leading up to the arrest of one man:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On November 13, 2014, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit were patrolling in the area of Cedar Lake Rd SW. Officers Michael Kitchens and Jonathan Macklin conducted a traffic stop for a moving violation (Multiple / Improper Lanes) at the corner of Sandlin Rd and Beltline Rd SW.
Officers identified the driver of the vehicle as John Gilbert Spille. During the course of the traffic stop, Spille was found to be under the influence of alcohol, prescription medication and marijuana. After further investigation, Spille was found to be in the possession of a variety of prescription medications (controlled substances) without valid prescriptions and a quantity of marijuana. Spille was placed under arrest and transported to the Decatur Police Department.
Spille was charged with three counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs, Driving Under the Influence, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Open Container and Multiple / Improper Lanes. He will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $10,000.00 bond.”
