Brenda Odessa Dawson, age 69, of Tuscumbia, Alabama, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014. Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. today in the chapel with entombment to follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Officiating is Brother Steve McAlister.
She was preceded in death by fathers, Eugene Dement Borden and Eugene Myers, and mother, Kate Meyers, husband, Howard Dawson, and sister, Patricia Kennington.
Survivors are daughters, Tina Tomsik (David) and Sheree Miller (Tom);
father of children, Richard Smallwood;
grandchildren, Andrew Hargett (Whitney), Alyssa Hargett, and Alexandra Tomsik;
great-granddaughter, Leah Hargett;
nieces and nephews, Sharmon Grigsby, Debbie Faulkner, Tracye Davis, Stephanie Johnson, Rita Sharpton, Tony Jefferys, and Stephen Crowden.
Pallbearers are Tim Grigsby, Tom Miller, David Tomsik, Tyler Grigsby, Todd Alexander, and Dustin Hubbard.
She was an active member at Grace Life of the Shoals Church. Brenda had a great love for all the little children in the preschool class.
