Rural Gibsonburg, Ohio resident, Lois E. Frederick, 87, passed away at her home early Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014.
Born on Jan. 10, 1927, in Haleyville, Alabama, Lois was a daughter of Asa and Leila Mae (Newman) Hyde. She graduated from the Bear Creek-Phillips High School in 1945 and attended some college courses. She began working as a bookkeeper and credit manager at JC Penny at the Great Eastern Shopping Center in Oregon, Ohio and moved to the Woodville Mall continuing to work for Singer Sewing Machine. She worked for over 15 years all the while being a loving wife and mother. Lois enjoyed sewing, bird watching, and was a good cook. She spent time working crossword puzzles and once happened to win the former Peach Section Crossword Challenge in the Toledo Blade.
She loved the Lord, was an avid Bible reader, was a former member of the Independent Baptist Church, Alabama, and attended the Genoa Trinity Methodist Church and the St. John’s U.C.C., also in Genoa.
On Dec. 24, 1946, Lois married Albert Frederick in Hackleburg, Alabama. Albert passed on Jan. 4, 2009.
Lois is survived by their loving children, Brenda (Terrylee) Dembowski, of Gibsonburg, James (Mary), of Graytown, and Phillip (Denise), of Elmore, Ohio; faithful friend, Lester Evans, of Genoa; ten grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Albert, and siblings, Eunice Jacobs, Ruth Whitten and John, William, and Asa Hyde.
Memorial services will be on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, noon, at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Gibsonburg, where visitation will begin at 11 a.m.
