William Lewis Key – Obituary

Funeral service for William Lewis Key, age 82, formerly of Decatur, will be Wednesday, October 15, 2014,  11:00 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jackie Kay officiating.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service.    Interment will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens, Moulton, AL.

Mr. Key, who died Sunday, October 12, 2014, at Glenview Health Care in Glasgow, KY, was born December 13, 1931, in Morgan County, to William Curtis Key and Sue Burt (Hill) Key.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Doris Key Flowers.  Lewis received an honorable discharge from the U. S. Army in 1955, after serving during the Korean war.  He retired from Solutia in Decatur, AL in 1985, following 30 years of service.  He enjoyed farming and woodworking in his free time.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Louise Thrasher Key of Scottsville, KY; three stepdaughters, Pamela Golden Winston (Chuck), Valerie Golden Plunkett (Terry), and Annette Golden Meyers (Jon), all of Scottsville, KY; one brother, Carlton Key (Nancy) of Trinity; two sisters, Shelby Jean Key Terry of Trinity, and Barbara Ann Key Lindsey of Joppa; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Winston, Terry Plunkett, Jon Meyers, Keith Lindsey, Barry Lindsey, and Billy Thrasher.

Memorial donations may be made to Scottsville Baptist Church, Youth Department, 301 E. Main Street, Scottsville, KY 42164.
