After a lengthy illness, Rosa Nell Miller died September, 12, 2014. A life-long resident of Colbert County, she was born in 1929 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. She graduated from Deshler High School and Florence State Teachers College (now the University of North Alabama). She was married to Louis Terry Miller for 62 years. Her professional career included teaching business education in public schools and working in her husband’s public accounting practice. Rosa was a member of Sheffield First United Methodist Church for 50 years. Prior to her illness, her passions were sewing, cooking, gardening, bridge and Bible Study.
She was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Louis Terry Miller (Sheffield, AL); daughter, Teresa Nell Miller (Franklin, TN); son, Lamar Reid Miller (Huntsville, AL) and Lori Miller; three grandsons, Reid Harris Mangelsdorf and Christian Miller Mangelsdorf (Franklin, TN), Scott Louis Miller (Huntsville, AL); and granddaughter, Kate Sullivan Miller (Huntsville, AL); two brothers, Harold Reid (Muscle Shoals, AL) and Becky Reid, and Gary Reid (Dayton, OH) and Karen Reid; more than a dozen nieces and nephews; and compassionate caregiver, Joanna Bogus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gary and Mable Reid (Tuscumbia, AL), and sisters, Jane Reid Bishop (Tuscaloosa, AL) and Charlotte Reid Cottingham, (Leesburg, FL). Funeral services will be held at Sheffield First United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 14, at 3 p.m. Family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm in the Parlor.
