Funeral service for Kenneth “Red” Ray Blankenship, 74, of Hatton will be today, September 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Hatton on Highway 157 with Brother Johnny Hood officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Witt Cemetery in Hatton. The body will be placed in the church from noon until time of service.
Mr. Blankenship, who died Saturday, September 6, 2014, at his residence, was born November 27, 1939, in Lawrence County to Author Otto and Mary Elizabeth Hand Blankenship. He retired from Amoco Chemical in 1996 after 30 years of service and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hatton. Kenneth was also active in Dixie Youth baseball in the Decatur area for many years coaching and umpiring. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wallace, Billy and Thomas Blankenship; and sisters, Irene Grant and Olena Duncan.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Margaret Witt Blankenship; son, Lyndon Ray Blankenship; daughter, Kimberly Beth Blankenship; and grandson, Hunter Ray Blankenship, all of Hatton.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
