Robert H. Donham – Obituary

Robert H. Donham of Decatur passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014. Mr. Donham was a native of Brazil, Indiana. He was the son of the late Robert L. Donham and Sylvia Sexton Donham. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Education and later graduated with a Master of Science degree, also from Indiana State

University. Mr. Donham 

was drafted and served in the United States Army in Italy and Europe until 1958. He began his 42 year career in education in 1958, 

teaching at the high school and college level. On December 26, 1958, he married Mary Evelyn Yarbrough of Decatur and made their home in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, until 1981 at which time they relocated to Decatur. After relocation, he was employed by the Decatur City School system as Director of Vocational Education until his retirement in 2000. Mr. Donham was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He was a founding member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Decatur.

Mr. Donham was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn Donham and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Donham.

Mr. Donham is survived by his brother, Ray Donham of Kokomo, Indiana; two sons, Michael C. Donham of Decatur and Brad L.

Donham; daughter-in-law, Valerie Springer Donham; and two grandchildren, Kayla and Alan Donham, all of Huntsville; niece, Stephanie Donham of Kokomo, Indiana and nephew, Stephen Donham of Indianapolis, Indiana.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Rev. Zeke Haselden officiating. A time of visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church in Decatur.
