Betty Lou (Turbyfill) Elmore, eldest child of Velma Nadine (Sharp) and William Oscar Turbyfill (deceased), passed quietly to the Lord on Aug. 16, 2014. She was 73.
Betty Lou resided in Encinitas, California where she enjoyed working in her garden tending numerous planted flowers and her roses. A retired retail sales professional, she most recently assisted a local golfing business with their merchandise.
Betty Lou is survived by her children, Tina Marie (Elmore) Ratcliff and Dudley G. Elmore III and wife, Kim; grandchildren, Hilary L. Elmore, Austin D. Elmore, and John C. Ratcliff; and her great-grandson, Conor L. Elmore.
In addition to her children she is survived by siblings, Donald Turbyfill (Glendale, Arizona), Clara Dean Johnston (Florence, Alabama), Tommie Turbyfill (Killen, Alabama), and Mary Nell Turbyfill (Florence, Alabama).
Predeceasing her were brothers, Charles R. Turbyfill and Jerry Lynn Turbyfill.
She leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who all fondly recall her kindness and talents in gardening and cake decorating.
A graveside service will take place on Sept. 12, 2014, 2 p.m., at the Stony Point Church of Christ Cemetery.
