Jerry Clark Turner, 73, Tremont, Miss., died Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Virginia to Howard Bascomb and Laura Elizabeth “Bagie” Turner. He was a graduate of Shannon High School. He was a carpenter and a welder. He enjoyed deer hunting, fox hunting, fishing and playing the guitar, especially at church. He also enjoyed listening to bluegrass music. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic lodge in Shannon.
Services will be today at 4:30 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Jeff Lentz and Bro. John Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Bounds Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Turner, of Tremont; brother, Randy Turner, of New York; sister-in-law, Lynda Turner, of Tupelo; nieces and nephews, Mickey Kennedy (Susan), Scotty Kennedy, Brad Kennedy, Suzanne White (Rex), Marianna Jordan (Bill), Kaycie Turner and Dax Turner; many more nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Buster Boyd Turner; and sister, Gwendolyn Kennedy.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Hale, Phil Cain, Joe Gillentine, Danny McCreless, Danny Pearson and Gayre Pounders.
Visitation was Saturday, Sept. 6, from 6-8 p.m. and 9 a.m. until service time today at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.
