david-herston-obituaryDavid Jackson Herston, 89, of Hackleburg, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Herston was a native of Florence, Alabama, but had lived in this area for the past 51 years. He was retired from U.S. Reduction as a welder. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Masons.

The funeral service will be Friday, August 15, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville with burial in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Phil Campbell. Officiating will be Elvis Cochran. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 p.m., until 2:00 p.m.

Survivors include wife, Darlene Lindsey Herston, Hackleburg; daughter, Starla Herston; son, Phillip Herston; sister, Genett Johnson; grandson, Landon “Niko” Herston; granddaughter, Christie Herston; great-granddaughter, Alexis Singh; several nieces and nephews; step-son, Sammy (Christie) Lindsey; step-daughters, Joe (Royce) McCarley and Jan (Wayne) Akers; step-grandsons, Keith McCarley, Heath Rayburn, Shawn Lindsey, and Chace (April) Akers; step-granddaughter, Kim (Tommy) Akers; step-great-grandsons, Tanner Lindsey, Hunter McCarley and Payton Akers; step-great-granddaughters, Hannah Rayburn, Anna Grace Lindsey and Kyla Engle.
