William David Sharp – Obituary

williamWilliam David Sharp, age 73, of Florence, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, from an extended illness surrounded by his family whom he adored. 

Visitation was Wednesday, July 16, 2014, from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be today at 11 a.m. at Petersville Church of Christ with Jerry Campbell officiating. 

Mr. Sharp retired from National Life Insurance Company as a staff manager. He was a retired carrier for the TimesDaily and USA Today. He was an auctioneer for several years. Mr. Sharp was very entertaining. He always had a joke or story to tell. He loved to have fun, whether it was “speaking his silly language” or making goofy faces. He loved people and always had a bright smile. 

Mr. Sharp was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Sharp, mother, Mary Blanche Campbell Sharp, mother, Edna Sharp, uncle, Frank Sharp, and in-laws, Foster and Marie McClure. 

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy McClure Sharp; daughters, Beth Harrison and fiancé, Mark Bratcher, and Haley Barbee and husband, Brad; grandchildren, Lila Barbee, Matthew Harrison, Ashleigh Dalgleish (Andy), and Carley Harrison; brother, J R Sharp (Sandra); sisters, Myra Sherrod (Bob), Wanda Cox, and Brenda Stone (Howard); aunt, Jewel Sharp; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Betty Parks and Charles and Judy McClure; and nieces and nephews. 

Active pallbearers will be Mark Bratcher, Bobby Holley, Mickey McClure, Britt McClure, Robbie Sharp, and David Sharp. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Danley and Tommy Rickard. 

The family would like to thank Amedisys Home Health Care for their excellent care. Our angel on earth with such a giving heart, Courtney Abston, who made sure our precious husband and father was cared for. We can never thank you enough!
