iron horseTUSCUMBIA-The Alabama Music Hall of Fame is hosting “An Evening with Iron Horse” on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the lobby of the museum.

“An Evening with Iron Horse will be a great night of entertaining bluegrass music.  These guys are giving their time and talents to support the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, said Dixie Connell Griffin, Manager.

Iron Horse has thrilled audiences with its hard driving Bluegrass sound and unique vocal arrangements for over a decade, but its roots were planted in the late 1970s , when Tony Robertson and Ricky Rogers were charter members of popular Shoals area group “The Next In Line.”iron horse 2

The four piece group composed of Robertson, on mandolin, Vance Henry, guitar, Rogers, bass and Anthony Richardson, banjo came together following the participation of Robertson, Henry and Rogers in the Jake Landers Band. Richardson was added on banjo when the group evolved into Iron Horse in 2003.

The group has released three self-produced albums since forming. The first, “Riding Out The Storm,” was released in 2001, and is composed of a more traditional style of Bluegrass, including versions of The Marshall Tucker Band’s “Fire on the Mountain, Marshal Warwick’s “Leaving Me” and “Going Home,” six Iron Horse originals and two by Landers. “New Tracks” was released in 2005, while “A Small Town Christmas,” was released in 2009.

AMHOFTheir vision and talent for producing distinctive interpretation of Bluegrass standards as well as crossover standards has caused fans, peers, musical engineers, and recording labels alike to agree that these guys are outside of the box of restraints and boundaries.

“Iron Horse” has a new sound for Bluegrass and they always perform with a spirit and sense of style that pays the most gratifying compliment to acoustic and Bluegrass lovers; a warm mixture of family influence, belief in God, and an unwillingness to deny their creative urges.

Ticket cost is $20.00.  They can be purchased at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.  Call – 256-381-4417 or 800-239-2643.
