Claude Earl Grigsby, 89, of Cleveland, AL passed away on May 28, 2014, at the Falkville Nursing Home. He was a World War II veteran, serving in both the European and Asian Theaters of Operation. He graduated from Samford University, formerly Howard College; he attended New Orleans Theological Seminary; was an ordained Baptist minister; was an associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Gadsden and also served as an administrator of the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home for over 30 years. Preceding him in death were his parents, Harvey and Grace Walker Grigsby; brothers, Edward Grigsby and Bill Grigsby; and sister, Lena Mae Tidwell.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl N. Grigsby of Hartselle; son, Edward Earl Grigsby (Angela) of Athens; daughters, Michelle Reburn (Terry) of Hartselle and Charlene Smith (Bob) of Knoxville, TN; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and brother, Benny “Joe” Grigsby (Phyllis) of Cleveland.
The body will be at Cleveland First Baptist Church today, May 31, 2014, from 10 a.m. until service time. Service will begin at 11 a.m. at the church with Brother Richard Dill officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Robert Smith, Jonathan Grigsby, Nelson Reburn, Terry Reburn, Tom Reburn and Wayne Reburn.
