genieveGeneva H. Nichols, of Leighton, Alabama, died Thursday, May 29, 2014. Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be Sunday, June 1, 2014, at 1 p.m., with burial to follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie H. Nichols, mother, Mattie L. Williams, father, Richard Clay Hamner, son, Daniel Nichols, sisters, Velma Trousdale, Theora Beavers, Marie Jones, Jessie Skipworth, Frankie Redmond, Myrtle Ray, and Ruby Greer, niece, Hamner Joiner, and brothers, Woodrow Hamner, Jimmy Hamner, and Fred Hamner.

She is survived by her daughters, Faye Poe (V.T.) and Donna Austin (Ricky); sons, Andy Nichols (Angie) and Barry Nichols (Karen); grandchildren, Jerry Palmer, Darenda Mitchell, Josh Poe, Amanda Peeples, Matt Nichols, Elizabeth Nichols, Thomas Clay Nichols, Misty Dawn Tucker, Cody Austin, Brandi Howell, and Cameron Nichols; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Palmer, Jessica Palmer, Nick Palmer, Leslie Rhodes, Ashton Poe, Ty Cunningham, Andria Peeples, Allie Peeples, Paiden Tucker, Ricklen Tucker, Gabrielle Loustaunau, Lakely Howell, Jackson Howell, Tucker Nichols, and Miranda Nichols.; and great-great-grandchildren, Ava King, Maverick King, and Silas Young.

She was a homemaker and baptist by faith and a member of Hatton Baptist Church. Mrs. Nichols was a founding member of Brick Hatton Fire Department, Leighton, Alabama. Special thanks to Linda Nichols, Marilyn Nichols, Laura Matthews, and Southern Care Hospice for their loving care of our loved one.
