Scott Matthew Powell – Obituary

scottScott Matthew Powell, 44, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 14, 2014.
Surviving are his wife, Renee Baer Powell, two sons, Casey James Powell and Riley Matthew Powell, 
his parents, Dr. James Orlis and Faye Stanley Powell, and one sister, Amanda Powell Zorovich.
He graduated from the University of Michigan with a B. A. and Masters Degree. Scott was an avid outdoorsman. He loved the sports of scuba diving, water and snow skiing and hunting. He was a life-time member of Safari Club International.

Scott owned and operated Down Under Surf and Scuba in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was a TecRec Instructor and Master Diver, with extensive experience in cave diving, deep water diving and wreck diving. 
He attended Colonial Baptist Church in Cary, North Carolina.
The funeral service will begin at 2 p. m., on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the chapel at Colbert Memorial in Tuscumbia, Alabama. The family will be available to receive friends from l p. m. to 2 p. m.
