Louise Receveur Wilson, born the fourth of six children to William J. and Mary E. Receveur in New Albany, Indiana, died Wednesday at age 99 in Huntsville. She lived a life of generosity and compassion toward all she met. The center of her life was her family and she was always present to guide, console, and praise her children. She was predeceased by the entire generation of her own family; by her husband, of 61 years, Walter B. Wilson Jr., and by her daughter, Mary V. Cox.
She is survived by her children, Walter III (Joanne), William (Carolyn), Rosemary (James), Robert (Peggy), and Thomas (Lisa). She is also survived by eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was a faithful daughter of the Catholic Church and the family’s gratitude is extended to the generous ministers of St. Joseph’s Catholic Community who brought the sacraments to her at home for so many years. Her family also recognizes the exemplary professionalism of her doctors and the staff of Huntsville Hospital who worked so diligently to see her restored to her family.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Saturday, May 24 at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow with a graveside service at Maple Hill Cemetery. Following the interment, there will be a reception at the St. Francis Hall of St. Joseph’s Church.
The family requests that donations be made in her name to Pope John Paul II Catholic High School, St. Joseph’s Catholic Community, Holy Family Regional School, or a favorite charity.
