Edwin Earl Wear, 72, of Florence, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 after an extended illness. Mr. Wear was a Florence native, being employed by R.C. Bottling Company for 26 years and Wilson High School for 12 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ. He loved everyone, especially his family, friends, and his dog, Katie. He was a man with a heart of gold
Visitation will be from 5 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Mt. Zion Church of Christ. The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Church of Christ. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Sonny Owens and Robert Huffaker. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Stanley, Sammy, Brian, and Dale Givens, Greg and Markus Clemmons, Larry Wear, Gary Wear, and Matt Wear. Honorary pallbearers will be Rod Townsley, Herman Lard, and the former principals of Wilson High School.
Mr. Wear was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelia Clemmons; brother, Horace Wear; father, Claude Wear.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elaine Wear; daughters, Sharon Givens (Stanley), Betty Givens (Sammy); son, Dewayne Wear (Shirley), son-in-law, Greg Clemmons; mother, Nellie Wear Crittenden; brother, Larry Wear (Carolyn), Gary Wear (Pat); sister, Sandra Butler (Ray); grandchildren, Brian Givens (Jana); Kelly May(Justin), Dale Givens (Hallie), Maleah Givens, Shilaine and Selena Wear, Markus Clemmons; great-grandchild, Owen Givens; many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the following nurses and support staff at ECM Hospital: Progressive Care, ICU, CTRU, Respiratory personnel, 5th and 6th floors. A special thanks to Robert Huffaker.
