William Henry Flippo – Obituary

williamWilliam Henry Flippo, 105, of Florence, passed away April 3, 2014 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of Wood Avenue Church of Christ for 74 years, TVA Retirees, and Mars Hill Bible School Endowment Association.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 1:30 – 3:15 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home with the funeral service beginning at 3:15 in the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Kenneth Davis. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Barry Rickard, Van Rickard, Bill Gooch, Todd Ledbetter, Andrew Rickard, and Jeremy Rickard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pud Harrison, Fred Kirchner, and Paul Carlton.

Mr. Flippo was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Feltman Flippo the mother of his children; second Ruth Emmons Flippo; parents, Dr. L.N. Flippo and Jessie Idella Martin Flippo; six brothers; one sister.

He is survived by his daughters, Winona Ann Rickard(Kenneth) of Elmore, AL, Lucretia Marguerite Gooch of Florence; grandchildren, Donna Tadlock, Barry Rickard, Van Rickard, Bill Gooch, Molly Brown, and Amanda Gooch; thirteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mars Hill Bible School.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Merrill Gardens and Mitchell-Hollingsworth Station #3.
