Mary Corene Dendy Thornton, 86, of Anderson, died Friday, March 21, 2014, at her residence.
Visitation will be 6–8 p.m. today at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with Jerry Marlow and Jimmy Grisham officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery. Family will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her husbands, T.J. Dendy and James Thornton; children, Pat Jones and Mike Dendy; brothers, Ronald, Arnold, Rosco and Dave Thornton; sister, Estilene Blakely; and grandson, Steven McKinley Thornton.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Dendy Thornton, Larry Ladon (Margaret Ann) Dendy, Jackie Wayne Dendy and Sandra Kay (Red) Haygood; grandchildren, Timothy (Melissa) Thornton, T.J. (Crystal) Dendy, Joshua (Rose) Dendy, Sonia Story, Jerred Dendy, Matthew Dendy, Ashley Haygood, Shane Haygood, Wesley (Mitzi) Jones, Haley (Josh) Stutts, Ethan Dendy and Shannon Balentine; great-grandchildren, Dylan Thornton, Cassie (Tim) Lemay, Alexi, Zoey and Kaven Jones, Devon Balentine, Kayla and Jaden Dendy, Wyatt Dendy; great-great-grandchildren, Noah, Silas, Sawyer and Lydia; brother, Austin (Ruth) Thornton; and five stepchildren.
