Mr. Jerome “Jerry” Allen Cook Sr., 77, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at Grace Bible Church of the Shoals, 4660 Chisholm Rd. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Keith Pope officiating. Mr. Cook will be laid to rest at Tri-Cities Memorial Garden Mausoleum.
Mr. Cook was born in Racine, Wis. and moved to Florence in 1950. He graduated from Coffee High School in 1955 and Florence State College in 1960. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army and served two years on active duty. In 1963, he began working at Ford Motor Company Glass Division Plant in Nashville, Tenn. and later in Dearborn, Mich. He retired in 1999 from Lockheed Georgia Co. after 25 years as a labor relations specialist. He and his wife lived on St. George Island in Florida for 14 years after retirement and just recently moved to Bluffton, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Claire Cook, and brother, Donnie Cook.
Survivors are his wife, Jane; sons, Jerry Cook Jr., of Goose Creek, S.C, and John Cook, of Apex, N.C.; brother, Ron Cook, of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Nancy Grissom, of Harvest, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
