Charles William Doriety, age 87, of Decatur, formerly of the Shoals area, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Visitation will be Saturday, noon-2 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tony Willis officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Mr. Doriety was a veteran serving in the Navy during World War II, and he was a retired superintendent with the gas deptartment of Albany, Ga. He attended Calvary Assembly, was a mason, and a member of the American Legion.
Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Rose Doriety.
Survivors include his son, Charles Esten Doriety; sisters, Marguerite Branch and Gwendolyn Tillie Merwin; grandchildren, Brooke Adele Williamson, Thomas Wesley Doriety, and Corey Esten Doriety; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Matt Williamson, Wesley Doriety, Cory Doriety, Michael Borden, Tom Austin, and Jason Jones.
