Betty Wyatt Leonard – Obituary

Betty Wyatt Leonard was born March 29, 1927, in Decatur, to John Stanley and Daphne Graves Wyatt. She died February 9, 2014, at home.

She graduated from Riverside High School, attended Converse College in Spartenburg, S.C., and graduated from the University of Alabama.

She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Morgan County, a charter member of the Decatur Assembly and a member of Stephens Chapter of the DAR. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she served as chairman of the ECW and where she was Chairman of the Altar Guild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lloyd Leonard. Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn Leonard DeWitt (George), Madison; and her son, Richard Wyatt Leonard (Barbara), Cleveland, Tenn. She is survived by five grandchildren, Rachael DeWitt Ford, Nathan DeWitt, Rebekah DeWitt, Sarah DeWitt, Joyce DeWitt; and three step grandchildren, Angela Velazquez, Nicole Eby and Rene` Bonfietti.

Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 16, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with visitation at 2 p.m.

The family requests that memorials be given to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 202 Gordon Drive, SE, P.O. Box 1806,

Decatur, AL 35602.
