Leslie Earl Whitehead – Obituary

Leslie Earl Whitehead age 89 of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Dr. Whitehead was born April 5, 1924 in Jefferson County to Robert Calhoun Whitehead and Plumer Cole Whitehead.

Services for Dr. Whitehead are Friday, February 14, 2014 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2014 from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Hooker officiating.

He was a member at Tanner Baptist Church. He was a retired Physician. He served in the Air National Guard as a Major General and is also a World War II Veteran.
He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Christopher and husband David; son, Robert Whitehead and wife Norma; grandchildren, Kathryn Webb and husband Shaun, Mary Glenn Christopher, Teresa Marie Whitehead and Robert Ivan Whitehead; great-grandchildren, Jackson Webb and Julia Webb; special friend, Brenda Bolling; caregivers, JoAnne Tucker and Vickie Linton; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Athens State College Scholarship Fund or the Crisis Service of North Alabama.
