Memorial service for Betty F. Sumerel, 74, of Decatur will be Friday, February 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Ridge Baptist Church with Brother Hugh Bohlin officiating.
Mrs. Sumerel died Wednesday, January 29, 2014, of rheumatoid lung disease. She was born February 21, 1939, in Marion County to Leroy and Irene Foster. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John J. Sumerel III; and one daughter, Carla J. Mitchell.
Survivors include her husband, John J. Sumerel Jr.; one son, Robert D. Sumerel; one daughter, Patricia M. Sumerel-Young; four brothers, Bill Foster, Terry Foster, Alfred Foster and Michael Scott Foster; two sisters, Mary Box and Pam Sullivan; nine grandchildren, Allen Mitchell, J.J. Sumerel, Blake Sumerel, Chris Sumerel, Travis Sumerel, Allison Young, Bronson Young, Daniel Diven and Tyler Sumerel; and one great-grandchild, Laikyn Marie Sumerel.
