HUNTSVILLE – On January 15th Wade Wharton, an admired artist and metals sculptor, died at the hands of his 19-year-old neighbor according to court filings. These reports allege the teen beat 76-year-old Wharton to death.

Ervin Akeem Tolbert a 5’9, 200lbs is alleged to have killed by beating him in the face and head, according to Tolbert’s arrest warrant.

Tolbert is being charged with capital murder, police claim the killing occurred during a theft near Wharton’s home on Nassau Drive shortly before the morning of January 15th.

Tolbert, along with his mother, were taken in for questioning at the Huntsville Police Department’s south precinct that same morning.
